My Yoga Journey

Hi, my name is Phoebe. I am a Cypriot/Egyptian yoga teacher living in London. I have been practicing yoga for 6 years. I first fell in love with the practice after attending a hot yoga class, in which I only attended due to an injury (sciatica) from weight training in the gym a little too much. I never expected it to spark such a huge passion and would lead me to where I am now. My personality thrives off movement, whether it be dance or trying new adventurous activities (I think this is the fiery Aries in me).

I feel my Yoga journey really began 4 years ago. This awakening was much deeper than any backbend or stretch. My spirit and soul truly found serenity in yoga. I unfortunately was involved in an incident, where I suffered second degree chemical burns to my chest and arm. After a year of recovery, I found my feet and went back to yoga, not to reach my deepest potential physically, but my calling was to tap into the practice mentally. I wanted to heal and I managed this through my consistent dedication to yoga. Once I felt ready, I travelled to India - Kerala, otherwise known as, ‘God’s Own Country’. I took the leap and did my Hatha 200hr Yoga teacher training, I had no intention in taking the course to become a full time Yoga teacher. However, I was infatuated by all that I learnt. It deepened my understanding of what Yoga really means. Yoga in Sanskrit means union. Spiritually, the practice is a development of ones being and how we engage with ourselves and others to create complete tranquility. Now my goal is to teach and be a resource for others, who want to regain confidence in their power and grow spiritually to reach their ultimate higher self.
